An Implementation of Sustainable Design Initiatives Report, or ESD Implementation Report as it is called by some councils, is an ESD report detailing the implementation of the sustainable design initiatives committed to in an endorsed Sustainable Design Assessment (SDA) or Sustainability Management Plan (SMP).
A wide range of Councils, such as Banyule, Stonnington, Moreland, Darebin and Port Phillip will insert a Planning Permit condition that the author of the report or another suitably qualified person provide a written report or statement verifying that the the development has been constructed in accordance with the measures committed to in the original ESD Statement or Report. An ESD Implementation Report, which is a combination of a paper based audit and at least one site visit, is required to confirm that all commitments have been adhered to.
This is of great benefit to the environmental outcomes of the project, but underscores how vital it is to choose your ESD consultant wisely, to ensure that original commitments made are feasible and can be followed through to completion.
